Jackson Yesterday

Jackson was a thriving city for a very long time.  The main reason for this was all of the railroads coming into the city which explains why there were so many hotels in downtown.  The majority of these old postcards were created between 1900-1920 and many have no date.  I can tell you that a huge number of these awesome old buildings no longer exist in Jackson.  Much of that is because of the progressive nature of the city during the manufacturing boom.  Lots of these old buildings were considered more a nuisance than something that should be maintained and cherished.  Today, that would not be the case of course.  If you go to smaller, less progressive towns, you will find the entire downtown areas in-tact which is really cool.  Adrian is a good example of this.  I will add to this gallery as I collect postcards and photographs on a monthly basis so check back often.  The selection of postcards has gotten so big I've put them into a slideshow format.  Click the icon below to view the images and enjoy!
