It's Almost

Christmas!

And just in time for Christmas, I've decided to post a link to a great short Christmas story "A Christmas Tree", by Charles Dickens. While most won't bother reading it, it is a short story; Dickens' style of writing is magical and with few words does a great job of pulling the reader in. If you have not read this story, I suggest you make the time for it, you won't regret it. Enjoy. More...

Live in Jackson

Jackson Michigan is a very old city wth a rich history. The past 30 years have not been kind to Jackson, but there are many here who still believe in the great city it can once again be. You can't beat the price of houses here and the taxes are very low. You can buy a mansion (I'm not kidding) for under $150K and we are less than a 30 minute drive to Ann Arbor or Lansing.  And yes, Jackson has some truly spectacular homes.

For Sale by Me

Over the past year or so I've picked up several vintage humidifiers or vaporizers and some small vintage electric space heaters.  I don't like to list on e-bay because they've gotten to where they charge so much to list an item that it makes selling them costly and therefore increases the cost of the item.  I keep my prices reasonable, I don't sell things that don't work well or are not in good condition, and I post many images with good descriptions.  If you see something you like, send me an email and I'll get back to you quickly with a response.

Also, I charge actual shipping costs, no more, no less.  I also look for the cheapest way to get something to you.  Oftentimes, Greyhound is the cheapest method of transport.  If you live near a depot, this may be the way to go and save yourself alot of money.

* A note on the humidifiers/vaporizers -- Modern day humidifiers and vaporizers ask consumers to buy cost-prohibitive paper filters. These filters can run more than $10 for one and last only as long as it takes to get filled with debris, which usually doesn't take long. If you use a humidifer due to illness, allergies, or choose to use one throughout the dry winter months, you can go broke. The old humidifiers and vaporizers did not ask that filters be used. Instead many people used distilled water (my mom did so religiously). This kept mineral build up in the units and on heating elements to a minimum although I have learned in my acquisition of these old humidifiers that mineral content in the water is sometimes preferred in the steam units to help increase steam, it simply depends upon the model. Today, with the advent of water filters, you can filter the water yourself or even use plain tap water, just remember minerals do build up and when they do you must clean the elements to keep your humidifier in good working order.

Cool mist humidifiers do not have heating elements, however, minerals can still build up.  So even for these units I suggest distilled or well-filtered water be used during operation.

Because these items are used, many do not include instructions for operation.  It's not rocket science, but some models do have specific instructions on usage and cleaning, many are included on the product's box or even stamped on the product itself.  All I have are basic use instructions.  It is the responsibility of the purchaser to search for/find specific instructions for the operation of the unit he/she purchases.
